My favourite book chat book of 2019

My favourite book chat of 2019 has been Con-nerd, written by Oliver Phomavan. The genres of Con-nerd were definitely humour and young adult.

Con-nerd is about a kid called Connor who is a well a nerd who lives in Australia but is actually from Asia. He has a friend who always calls him con-nerd which is were he gets his name from. Connors’s mum has really high expectations for him because when Connor’s mum is at work all of her friends talk about how much there children have achieved. His mum wants him to be a doctor but Connor really wants to be a artist and at one point he even made a his own comic series called fire proof knights. And connor had to keep his art secret a secret from his mum and when she eventually found out she took away all of Connor’s art supplies and Connor gave up but his friend kept on trying to encourage him to start drawing again and Connor ended up entering an art competition. Unfortunately he did not win but he was mentioned for having an amazing piece of art. His mum ended up hearing about this and she was actually really proud of Connor.

Some reasons why I loved this book were that it was really easy to understand and had great yet simple detail that just left wanting to keep reading and seeing what was on the next page and what would happen next. At one point I would read until my eyes started to close. And by the way I’m not the biggest fan of reading but I still really enjoyed this book.

What makes a good information book

A good information book must have clear and easily understandable information, because if it is not clear, the reader will not understand what is being said and will most likely stop reading the book.

It also must have a source at the front or back of the book telling the reader where or who the author got the information from because if it does not people will just think that the author has made it up.

It also must have pictures that describe and match the text. They must all be in good positions so that it is appealing to the reader. For example make believe has the information about the picture on one page and on the other is the picture that it’s describing.

My favourite shortlisted book was make believe because it had a lot of cool mind boggling pictures that make you think really hard. It’s also a great book because it is really well set out because on one page there is information about the picture and on the other is the picture.

CCL reflection

On the 6th of June Carey had a literature Festival. It was great there was a treasure hunt, footy activity and you could buy some books. Also each year level got to meet a famous author

My favourite part of the festival was the Specky McGee activate because I love footy and my favourite part of the activity was the marking bit because I loved jumping up and trying to catch the ball in the air. It was awesome! Another bit I liked was the treasure hunt. In that you had to go around and find a bunch of book covers and names and when you found them all I think you got a prize.

The most interesting thing I learnt during the Mark Wilson presentation was that all is stories are based on family and friends that he knows like the book I saw nothing was based on a dying species of dog. Also he loves to help the environment. He is actually in a charity that tries to save dying out species.

What was your favourite part of the literature festival?

First term of library!

The main genre of books that I like to read is humour. I like these types thanks because I like reading books with humour and funny jokes. For example some of my favourites are the Captain underpants books and the treehouse series.

My favourite book this year has definitely been hatchet because it has a lot of detail in the paragraph and it’s very interesting and cool because it gives me a good picture in my head of what is actually happening in the story.

What has your favourite book chat book been this year and why, also what is your favourite genre of book? Comment your answer.
