Science experiment reflection

1.  What were the highlights?

Working as a group, learning about strength and how long some elastic bands  can go with different thickness but same length. learning about scientists, Asking scientific questions. Being curious about science.

Our Experiment Plan

From Hannah, Izzy, Ned and Stavros.

Is the strength of the rubber band dependent upon the thickness.

Testing different thickness of an elastic band with weights. How much weight can we put on an elastic band without it not breaking

Every 20 seconds we will put another 3 kg of weight until it breaks.

We are going to observe how long until the elastic band breaks.

We are going to keep the same the length of the rubber band.

That the elastic bands and that will be only one of them and the will only hold about 3kg of weight  Because the type of thickness will have to much weight on it.

The Materials we are using are:

Three elastic bands that are the same Length but different thickness.

5g of weight and also 1 kg of weight.

2 bike hooks

Ruler

Camera to video it

Something to hold it with

This is a drawing of our setup:

Hang bike hook on whiteboards.

Put rubber band on bike hook

What another bike on the bottom of the rubber band

Put one waves of 5g on Second by cook and wait 20 seconds and then keep putting some more weight on it until it breaks

Thanks for reading I hope you liked it.

BYE!!!

What were the challenges? Trying not to have any  variables, sometimes it was really hard to agree on some things for  our experiment.Trying to get the same length but different thickness. Our idea being changed it was originally same thickness different length.

How you solved the challenges?

We discuss your different ideas and put them together.

Changing a mistake on our experiment planning sheet.

Asking the teacher for help for when we had a confusion on the experiment plan.

Things that you learned from doing the experiment?

That experiments can have a different results than other hypothesis.

That hypothesis are not always right. Learning new words and thinking like scientists.

Self correcting ourselves when we made mistakes.

We realised that our hypothesis was wrong.

And we learned from our mistakes.
